So the question is…
What do you really want
?
Here is how many describe their ultimate career desire:
• I don’t know what to call it, but I want to help other people
• I want to wake up every morning and look forward to my job
• I want to come home from work every night and know in my heart that I
made a difference
• I want to be memorable and make my family proud
• I know I have a special gift; I just have not found the right
outlet for it yet
• I want to be like the small percentage of people I have met who actually
love their job
• I want to take pride in describing what I do for a living
• I want to know that I mattered!
Section 1 – Getting To Know Yourself
For me, I would define the feeling as a
restless aching
; a relentless feeling
that simply cannot be suppressed or ignored. Perhaps you can relate to
what I am talking about but lack a definitive plan to master this yearning to
feel
significant.
Many people lack the vocabulary to define this “restlessness” but can
articulate their strong desire for a “career with more meaning.” What they
(you) are ultimately seeking is the key to this entire book . . .
the need to
obtain happiness and peace of mind that comes from making a positive
contribution
to others through meaningful work
.
