Introduction to Online Learning

Welcome to the world of online learning! You are joining

the more than 5.8 million students in the United States that

take classes online every semester. Online classes today

are engaging and use all types of technology to connect

you to your teachers and fellow students, as well as to the

course material and services you need to succeed in

college.

Online learning may not be

for everybody. It requires the

ability to set a schedule and

be disciplined about following

deadlines. Younger students

sometimes miss the social

interaction that occurs in a

traditional university, with its

dormitories and campus activities.

However, there are many benefits

afforded to students that take

online classes. It enables students to work

and still attend school. It allows students to

schedule study time around family and work obligations.

For students that live in remote areas, it ensures obtaining

a degree from an accredited school located anywhere

in the United States (or the world!), which saves time and

money on commuting.
