List those employers that you feel strongly or positively about and that are
applicable to the position sought. Be accurate and factual.
The final portion of the application will ask you to sign your name and confirm
that all statements or claims made in the application or resume are truthful and
complete. You may be asked to approve authorization to conduct any
investigation in respect to examining your previous criminal or police record, if
that’s applicable, as well as any references that you may have cited.
Please review the application carefully, it may list specific contractual
arrangements regarding employment benefits, additional compensation or at-
will status. Employer websites are getting more sophisticated every day. The
use of screening tools, key word searches and other technology based pre-
employment assessments are evolving as of this writing. Some of these tools are
effective but my advice is to get to a decision maker and state your reasons
for wanting to work with them. The employment application is a very important
document and you should take proper care and attention and detail when
filling it out.
There are
three
basic rules to consider when filling out an
application for your ideal career:
1. Make sure you are in a location that allows you to
have the proper frame of mind to fill out the
application; be clear of any nervous thoughts,
people looking over your shoulder and ensure
you’re in a comfortable writing position.
2. Make the employment application legible and
pleasing to the reader. Employers like something
they can understand and don’t have to struggle
to read.
3. Be accurate and factual. Include specific experience,
credentials and qualifications and make them up-to-date.
