The

Real

Deal

(What Employers Are Thinking)

Five Objectives of Any Interview

Remember, the interview process is a buyer/seller scenario. The interviewer

has a problem and you are potential solution to that problem. Smart

candidates obtain a definition of the ideal candidate for the open position

and then do their best to convince the interviewer that you

are

that ideal

candidate.

More specifically,

successful candidates should have these 5 objectives for any

interview:

1. Create a favorable first impression.

2. Obtain a description of the ideal candidate sought by the

employer.

3. Present yourself as the ideal candidate.

4. Overcome and neutralize any objections.

5. Get a second interview or ideally, a formal job offer.

Can this candidate do the job?

Does this candidate fit into our culture?

What is the risk of hiring this candidate?

Can we agree on compensation?
