If your subconscious thermostat is not “set” for career success, there is

no technique or strategy you can learn that will make a difference.

Your

career identity

is simply the mental and emotional picture you

have of yourself. This includes what you believe you are worthy of,

capable of, comfortable with, and how talented you are.

Why is your

career identity important?

Because… we as human beings always “self-regulate” to the person or

level we are comfortable with. Being in sync with our identity is one of

the strongest desires human beings have. We will always act in

accordance with our identity. The secret to progress is not to try and

fool yourself into being someone else, but rather, to take steps to alter

your identity to be the person you are capable of being.

Resistance to this change will come in the form of habits, prior

momentum and conditioning from family, teachers, friends, and

media. This is why I am so cognizant of what my children are exposed

to (television, violence, negative thinkers, cynics, etc.) because early

exposure shapes identity and will create their

foundation

for life. It

takes courage to make a change and explore why you are like you

are and do what you do. It is almost like career therapy. But trust me,

making these changes will give you what you ultimately seek, greater

happiness and peace of mind!
