Page Background

Consider lottery winners. Studies have shown that people who win the

lottery eventually return to their original level of income, the amount they

are comfortable with.

The amount they identify with!

We all think we need

excessive amounts of money, but unless we modify our belief system (our

comfort level) to feel deserving with this financial windfall, we will feel

incongruous and sabotage ourselves until we return to our natural state.

Sounds crazy, but it’s true!

Whether it is a golfer who double bogies

the last hole to sub-consciously

maintain their handicap thermostat,

a salesperson “programmed” to

make $50,000 annually who

suddenly hits a slump in the 4th

quarter to maintain this figure, or a

student who gets a “C” on the final exam to

maintain their B average, there are countless examples

of

self-regulating behaviors

that occur unbeknownst to

us. Where are you self-regulating or as some say

sabotaging your own success? Can you see now why you are

acting this way? It is because your identity and goals are not in

sync. You want to weigh 110 pounds, but your identity says you

weigh 130 pounds. Until you

identify

with 110 pounds, you will

be engaged in a constant struggle with your own identity and

most likely remain at 130 pounds. This is why diets result in

frustration.

The secret?

The minute you reprogram your mind and truly

see yourself as a 110-pound person (a 110-pound identity), it

will begin to happen.

The mind is indeed a powerful force!
