Effectively Forecasting Your Future
“Give me a stock clerk with a goal and I will give you a man
who will make history. Give me a man with no goals, and I
will give you a stock clerk.”
—J.C. Penney, founder
Science has taught us that the human mind is a performance
based organ.
This means that whatever command you send to your
subconscious mind, it will focus 24-hours a day to attain it. The more specific
the request, the better results you will achieve.
How much
and
by when
are two essential aspects to any command you send to your subconscious
mind. “I think I would like a career in health care” is not as powerful or effective
as, “I will be a licensed practical nurse at Yale New Haven Hospital
working the 2nd shift earning $45,000 annually by January 1st, of next year.”
One client of mine purchased a graduation ring from the law school he
wanted to graduate from the day he was admitted to their evening program.
Since he was working a full time day job and going to law school
at night, he needed every incentive possible to ensure he would complete his
studies. He wore the ring every day and kept the ring on his night stand as
a visual reminder of his dream and looked at the ring every night before
bed; just so he would not quit school and would stay focused on his desired
outcome.
When I decided to author this book, the first thing I did was design the book
cover and place it on top of my desk so I could embed the goal into my
subconscious mind to help create this work. Whether you seek to create a
revolutionary exercise program, design an innovative website, become
president of your class, start a new non-profit organization, host a television
show, or climb Mt. Everest, I suggest you adopt the same practice.
