The Power of Asking

“‘How come you never told us any of this?’ the bosses inquired.

‘How come you never asked?’ the workers replied.”

- Christopher Locke

I am constantly amazed at how many people are afraid or hesitant to ask for

something that they know will benefit them or their family. Have you ever heard

the saying, “The squeaky wheel gets the oil!” Asking for what you want and

deserve is not only your right, it is your obligation!

Why

? Because asking for a

person’s assistance or for him/her to become one of your key mentors, is merely

your attempt to obtain more knowledge. Here’s a useful acronym to remind you

about asking:

So why do people stumble when

they have an opportunity to ask?

Essentially, there are

three

reasons:

1. They have a belief system that says it’s not right to ask.

2. They lack confidence.

3. They fear rejection.

Scipture

says, “Ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find,

knock and it shall be opened to you.”
