4. Friendly Frank
Approximately 25% of interviewers
have this profile. Traits include a
deep need to be liked and
respected. Friendly and outgoing,
these folks like to build a relationship
with candidates because they
believe that is the key to effective
interviewing. They use personal
stories vs. inundating them with facts
and figures and are complimentary
about their office and location. This
style may procrastinate on a final
decision, which can be frustrating.
5. Bottom Line Betty
Approximately 30% of interviewers have
this profile. Traits include a very direct,
almost impersonal approach to the
interview process, where the outcome
is more important than the person
seeking the position. You may be
viewed as a “resource” responsible for
measurable tasks and duties vs. a
human being with feelings and
emotions. I advise you to be concise
and don’t mince words, get to the
point and be respectful of their time,
which they value tremendously. Think
of them as a radio station . . . WIIFM
(what’s in it for me?) should be their
motto.
