Understanding a hiring authority’s fears can provide you with good insight on
what he or she is looking for when choosing a candidate. Here are a few things
the hiring authority will be looking for during the hiring process, and surely does
not
want to see:

•
If you were hired, you would be incompetent, or would need too much time to get
your feet on the ground, become unproductive, and not pull your own weight.
If you were hired, you wouldn’t put in an honest day’s work. You might be
sloppy and
constantly need someone to check your work.
If you were hired, you would be lazy, give only the minimum effort, and would need
be told what and when to do everything.
If you were hired, you would frequently call in sick, arrive late, leave early,
refuse
overtime, and constantly ask for raises.
If you were hired, you would be a chronic complainer, a braggart, or someone who
blames others for your mistakes, blunders, sloppy work, or forgetfulness.
If you were hired, you would say or do something to disgrace the company, the
department, the manager, or your fellow workers.
If you were hired, you would show no pride in your work, your office or work area, or
your appearance.
You could be arrogant, conceited, rude, pushy, antagonistic, or moody.
