Examples of Taking Initiative On the Job:
1. Come to work a half hour early every day.
2. Be at work every day.
3. Volunteer to work overtime.
4. Volunteer to work in another department.
5. Learn something new at work every day
6. Learn a new skill that you have not used before.
7. Offer to attend an optional training program.
8. Be willing to train a new employee.
9. Clean your workspace, even if others are responsible for it being disorganized.
10. Help a co-worker who needs assistance.
11. Make a suggestion for improving a procedure.
12. Think ahead so you will always be prepared.
13. Clean your workspace every day before leaving work.
14. Offer to set up a new display.
15. Offer to cover someone’s shift.
16. Offer a suggestion for improving the appearance of the company.
17. Find something constructive to do when it is not busy.
