As I have told you, there are many different ways to adopt these tools

and incorporate these concepts. Ultimately ten people can get ten different

ideas from these concepts. But remember one thing. If your particular plan

is not working, simply change your approach. Modify your actions. That

is why I have included so many different variations of strategies, because

what works for one career seeker might not be as successful for another.

I strongly recommend that you periodically go back to the “hot buttons”

and refresh your memory, even after you have found what today you consider

your career calling. Tomorrow your priorities could change.

Remember:

change is inevitable; progress is not!

Strive to continually educate yourself and be open to new ideas. Malcolm

Forbes, at one time one of the world’s richest men, said, “Education’s purpose

is to replace an empty mind with an open one.”

Maybe you read this book because a decision to find a better career was

made by you or, for many of the individuals who are unfortunate out there,

it was made for you. So many of you have in your mind that this will never

happen again or it could never possibly happen to you. I recommend that

you remain ever alert and keep your options open. Maintain contacts with

these friends and former employers through social events, letters or what

have you. Give them a call once in a while just to keep in touch. Keep your

credentials updated at all times.

Build your network and expand your connections. If you attended an educational

institution, stay active in your alumni association. Keep track of the people that you

meet through trade organizations or committees because you never know when

you’re going to need these people for support and guidance.
